Rinse and drain the beans, then place them in a blender or food processor. Blend, then set aside. Rinse and drain the remaining beans, then set aside.

Sauté the vegetables in olive oil. Add the garlic and cook.

Add the pureed bean mixture, whole beans, remaining broth, rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper. Let simmer.

Add the spinach or kale and simmer. Stir in the fresh lemon juice and Parmesan cheese. Taste and season, then serve.
